The ICD Literary Workshop

The ICD literary component will introduce the Caribbean-American Literary Workshop: Go Get a Book in Your Hand: “Broadening Young Adult Scholars Horizons through Literature”. This workshop will examine literature for children and young adults, and will serve as a centerpiece to pay tribute to the Trinidadian-American, award-winning, Madame Rosa Guy, who specializes in this genre. Excerpts from Madame Guy’s award-winning novel, The Friends, which The New York Times calls a “heart slammer”, will be read by the distinguished actress, Magaly Colimon. A panel discussion with representatives of the publishing milieu and educators will follow. Panelists include: Marva Allen, Hue-Man Bookstore & Café, Kristin Fayne-Mulroy Managing Editor, NY Amsterdam News, Kenton Kirby, Editor-in-Chief, Caribbean Life, Sarah McNally, CEO, McNally Robinson Booksellers,DePrator and Cherise Davis, Editor-in-Chief, Plume books. The moderator is journalist Misani, founder/producer of the ICD Festival. The Caribbean-American Literary Workshop will take place in the Archives Room.
