About Us

The first annual International Caribbean Diaspora (ICD) Film, Theatre & Literary Festival will be launched on June 13, 14, and 15, 2007, at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, 515 Malcolm X Blvd., in Harlem, New York. The Festival will be held annually during the newly legislated Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

Purpose

The purpose of the ICD Film, Theatre & Literary Festival is to collect, screen, discuss and archive Caribbean-American and Caribbean Diaspora themed films, or films made by Caribbean-American filmmakers and those from the Caribbean Diaspora. In addition, the festival serves to showcase, and promote the diverse audio visual, performing and literary arts that are reflective of the richness and diversity of the Caribbean-American and Caribbean Diaspora cultural experience. The impetus for the ICD Festival evolved as a response to the void of Caribbean-oriented film, stage productions, in America, and through-out the Caribbean Diaspora.

Mission

The mission of the ICD Festival therefore, is to present these Caribbean stories to a wider audience in
America as well as internationally. In addition the ICD Festival serves as a vehicle to encourage the
development of a viable Caribbean- American-Caribbean Diaspora film industry.

Theme

The theme of this year’s ICD festival is “Exo-Genesis”, a 21st Century movement that honors the Caribbean-American and Caribbean-Diaspora cultural legacy and contribution collectively through film, theatre and literature.

Founders/ Producers

The founders/ producers of the ICD Festival are the multi-talented, Emmy-award winning voice-over artist, TV stage and film actor, and singer, Keith David, winner of the 2007 Bistro Award for Best Male Vocalist; and the former theatrical press agent and casting director (film, TV, theatre), Misani who also serves as the organization’s executive director.
